1. What is the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast?

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast began when the Twin Cities UNCF and General Mills joined together in 1991 to host a celebration to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and to inspire individuals to live out Dr. King’s message of unity in our communities and beyond. This event supports UNCF’s mission of investing in Better Futures® for the young men and women we serve and by helping them move to and through college.

2. Are tickets available for purchase?

In-person tickets went on sale starting in November and are now closed. Please visit Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast for updates on next year’s event and tickets.

3. I purchased ticket(s). When will I receive my official ticket(s) with table number?

We’re excited for you to join us! You will receive all ticket and event details via email the week of January 12th, 2026.

4. When and where is the event?

The MLK Breakfast will be held on January 19th, 2026, in the Main Floor Ballroom at the Minneapolis Convention Center (1301 Second Ave South Minneapolis, MN 55403). Doors open at 6:45 AM, and the program begins at 8:00 AM.

5. How do I check in and get my ticket?

All tickets are electronic. Please present your confirmation email (printed or on your phone) at the registration table in the Ballroom foyer.

6. Can I add an extra seat to my table of 10?

No, for the safety and comfort of all guests, tables have a maximum capacity of 10.

7. Where will I be seated?

Tables are reserved for group purchases; individual ticket holders will be given an assigned table with other individual ticket holders.

 8. I need to change the name on a ticket for one of my table guests. How can I do this?

Unfortunately the modification window for updating guest names closed on Friday, January 9th. After this date, we are unable to make direct changes to the names printed on tickets. However, the easiest way to accommodate a change is to have the original ticket holder forward their ticket to the guest who will be attending in their place. The new guest can then use the ticket for entry.

 9. Can I still purchase tickets to the event?

No, the ticket window closed on Tuesday, January 13th. We are no longer selling tickets at this time. However, we can add your request to a waitlist. If an opening becomes available, we will do our best to accommodate you. Please reach out to MLK Breakfast Committee mlkbreakfast@events.biworldwide.com to inquire about waitlist options.

 10. I need to change the meal choice for myself or one of my guests. How can I do this?

The window for modifying meal choices has now closed. However, if you or your guest has any dietary needs or restrictions, please alert your server at the event. They will do their best to accommodate you.

 11. I can't find my ticket. What should I do?

Please check your email (including your spam/junk folder) for the original ticket email. If you still can't find it, contact MLK Breakfast Committee mlkbreakfast@events.biworldwide.com with your name, email and any registration details, and we'll resend it to you.

12. Is there a coat or bag check available?

Yes, coat check will be available near the Ballroom entrance for $5. Oversized bags may be inspected. We recommend bringing only essentials.

13. What are my options for parking or transportation?

14. Is the event accessible for guests with disabilities?

Yes, the Ballroom is fully accessible. The event will be held in Main Floor Ballroom at the Minneapolis Convention Center and closed captioning will be provided. Please visit the facility’s website for more accessibility information or reach out to mlkbreakfast@biworldwide.com with questions or accommodation requests.

15. Will food be provided, and what if I have dietary needs?

A hot plated breakfast will be served; Southwest Egg Soufflé, Chicken Sausage Links, Pan-Fried Red Skin Potatoes, Winter Fruit Salad, assorted pastries, coffee, juice. A vegetarian/vegan version and non-dairy breakfast option will be available upon request. Additional dietary accommodations may be available upon request.

16. What should I wear?

Business or business casual attire is recommended.

17. Will there be photography or media at the event?

Yes, official photographers will be present. If you prefer not to be photographed, notify a staff member at check-in.

18. What if I lose something at the event?

Please visit the registration table for lost and found assistance.

19. Can we purchase an entire table (10 seats)?

Yes. Please purchase based on your category: Individual, Nonprofits, Mid-size corporations (under 10,000 employees), or Large-size corporations (10,000+ employees).

20. Are tickets refundable?

Please refer to the following cancellation and refund policy for event tickets.

- Tickets Cancelled before 12/10: Full refund minus $5 administrative fee.

- Tickets Cancelled between 12/10-12/30: 50% refund minus $5 administrative fee.

- Tickets Cancelled after 12/31 are non-refundable.

- Cancelled tickets that are eligible for refunds will automatically receive their refund issued to the original payment method. If invoice has not yet been sent, adjusted amount with cancellation fee will be invoiced after event.

23. Can I watch the program virtually?

This year the event will be held in-person, however, a recording of the program will be available to watch on our website after the event.

24. I can’t attend the event but I’m interested in supporting Twin Cities UNCF. How can I donate?

25. What security measures do you have in place for the breakfast?

The safety and comfort of all attendees is our utmost priority. The MLK Breakfast is a private event within the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC).  As always, MCC security will follow established protocols to ensure attendee safety and comfort, including:

  • Emergency Assistance & Suspicious Activity: For any emergency or to report suspicious activity, contact the MCC Command Center directly at 612-335-6040. You can also report concerns to any uniformed on-site personnel.

  • Vehicle Safety: Protect your belongings from vehicle break-ins. Always put your valuables in your trunk, never leave items in plain view, and lock your car doors.

  • Medical Assistance: In case of a medical emergency, contact the MCC Command Center or report to uniformed personnel.

  • Firearms Policy: Firearms are prohibited within the event space. Please look for signs indicating "(BANS GUNS IN THESE PREMISES)" near the event entrance.

26. I am no longer able to attend the event in person; however, can I still watch virtually?

 We have a few ways for you to still experience the breakfast. We invite you to tune in to WCCO RADIO live, and mid-day to WCCO TV’s streaming app or MPR. Later in the week, we’ll have link to watch the full event on mlkbreakfast.com.
